As I mentioned yesterday, we have entered a new,
more mobile phase. Leah traveled between the 2 ottomans
to get to the curtain. She definitely looked guilty.
Then she grabbed it anyway.
This gives you a slight taste of the recent change
in our house. Leah now travels easily (without rolling)
across rooms. It's not exactly a crawl, but it's close
enough to be dangerous. Here she is starting to clear
the bottom shelf of her toys.
She has just this afternoon developed a fascination
for all things electrical. Mommy will be babyproofing
the outlets tomorrow.
Leah naps in strange positions. It's as if sleep catches her totally
by surprise.
It's been a big week in the sleep department. For the first time since
December Leah slept through the night. Then she did it again.
(Admittedly it was several days later, but we'll take whatever we can get.)
Yes, Leah's about to share a bit of drool with her daddy. That's love.
We seem to have established a bedtime routine. Leah eats a
dinner of solids, we put on her jammies, she has a small bottle,
we read a story, and then she goes to sleep.
Leah had the bright idea that playing with her bottle would postpone
her bedtime. Little does she know that her Mommy knows ALL the
tricks from her own childhood and will not be fooled.
The Bangs
The Curl
And just in case you couldn't see it clearly enough -- the bald spot.
Leah and Peter have been working on standing lately.
He'll pile a bunch of toys on the ottoman, and she'll
stand there entertaining herself. (Later she plunks over,
but that's not the fun part.)
I've gotten a request to see this skill, so in Peter's absence
I put the tiger on the ottoman and . . .
Of course there is "No Disc" in the DVD player. I wasn't planning
to watch a DVD. I hadn't turned it on!
I'm not sure you can call this sitting, but it's a start. Several of her
peers sit solidly, but Leah is much more interested in skills that allow
her to move. Staying in one place (sitting) is not particularly interesting.
Leah loves ceiling fans, lights, and pull cords.
She decided to combine the three, and now
she enjoys turning our fan lights on, and off, and on . . .
Leah's 6 month birthday gained her access to several
"more advanced" toys. Here she is enjoying one of her
new favorites with her favorite playmate.

"Encouragement"
One of the best things about watching Leah eat is watching
Laura "help" her: Laura will unconsciously make the same mouth
movements that Leah is making-- opening and closing her mouth,
moving her tongue, etc.

"Sick Mommy"
In early April, you may have noticed a lull in postings.
Laura was sick with, among other things, a bad sore throat and a
high fever. In spite of this, she took care of Leah-- usually by
herself (until I was smart enough to stay home from work).

Laura and Leah, November, 2004 (posted by Peter)
For Mother's Day, this is Peter posting... (my id is not working, so I'm posting
as "Laura"). Many of you will have seen at least some of these pictures before,
though many of these should be 'new.'
Our living room windows provide a nice view for an
ambitious roller.
Pappasito's restaurant can be a little overwhelming.
Leah decided to shut it all out and take a nap.
Leah has continuted to be an enthusiastic eater. Here she is looking
forward to her first taste of peas.
Here she is feeling betrayed by her parents for giving
her yucky peas. (Carrots have since gotten us back
on track.)
