Sorry for the delay, but Leah's birthday fell during our
evacuation adventure. We're all well, and so is the house.
Her measurement bunny didn't make the trip, so a bladeless
cheese grater will have to demonstrate scale this time.
We've covered large sections of the tile floor with tumbling mats.
First, the phone rang while I was changing her, so I put
her down without putting her legs back in her jammies.
Second, I think the blue stripes are fetching on her even
if I bought them in the boy section.
Third, she seems to have a strong preference for the way her
drawer should be arranged.
Grandma and Grandpa K. recently returned from Alaska. They brought
Leah a stuffed orca and a stuffed eagle. Leah immediately starting kissing
the eagle and tweaking his beak (as seen here). The poor orca sits on the shelf.
In the past few weeks Leah has passed some important milestones.
Leah is FINALLY sleeping through the night (4-5 times a week)!
She said her first word -- kitty.
She said her second word -- duck.
She climbed her first stair, and then she climbed the whole flight.
Leah loved the screened porch. She's also quite fond of her daddy.
Peter and Leah went for several nature walks.
(Good to see Mom blocked her vision with the sun hat.)
Both leaves joined us for dinner.
Our friend Hans came to the Maryland house and
got to meet Leah for the first time. It was a success.
Grandpa and Grandma collaborated in the creation of this fun play table.
Leah loved playing in the water with scoops and funnels.
She decided the funnels were so cool that she couldn't bear
to part with them. In fact, she ate dinner without relinquishing
the funnels.
Leah met Chloe, her six-month old second cousin, on the trip.
Leah enjoyed getting to know her.
We'll come back to Maryland pictures tomorrow,
but we had to interrupt for the big event.
Before the cut. (We'll introduce the eagle in a later post.)
Polaroid of cut. (She loved the attention.)
After cut.
Living in the cut. (Leah likes it. Dad's not too sure.)
Leah wasn't too sure about the riding toy at first,
but she liked the horn right away.
Leah and Grandpa enjoyed reading together during our visit.
One book was of particular interest. Daddy was asked to read it too.
We just got back from a great trip to Maryland. Leah enjoyed the pool
with Grandma. The water was too cold for Mommy, but not for Leah.
Here she is lounging in her tug boat with her pool volleyball.
