Leah wouldn't nap on her birthday, so she was overwhelmed by
the time we sang to her.
She managed to pull it together long enough to enjoy a few bites of her
(dairy-free) birthday cake. Chocolate was a hit.
Then she melted down again and was in bed by 6:30.
Kevin, Rowena, and Caroline gave Leah a Texans jersey
for her birthday. She modeled it right away.
With a last name like Johnson, you can even have a
personalized jersey. Andre doesn't mind sharing his
number with Leah. (Notice the UT paraphernalia planted
by Kevin.)
The little fans after another crushing Texans loss on Sunday.
They don't look that crushed, do they?
Leah figured out that the collapsed umbrella stroller made
an adequate push toy. She pushed it the length of the living
room. She hit a wall. Mommy turned her around. She
pushed it all the way back. She hit another wall, and so
it continued.
Leah decided to help Mommy with the packing last weekend. She
pushed her stroller and pulled her carseat. Next time we might let
her try it in the airport.
Leah has gotten together with her friend Caroline several times recently.
They used to just stare at/past each other. Now they grab for each
other with great enthusiasm.
Leah carried these around the house for more than an hour.
We flew to Chicago for a wedding this weekend. Here Leah is
enjoying the flight. We counted that Illinois was Leah's 11th state.
Not bad for her first 11 months.
Leah discovered Mommy's Post-It note pad. She dismantled it into
smaller sections and then into individual pages that she stuck around
the house. It was hours of fun.
(Can you find both post-its in the the blurry shot below?)
Her eyes are her most complimented feature.
But her teeth are a close second.
In other news, Leah has finally doubled her birth weight. Way to go!
(Big newborn (~ 9 lbs.), petite infant (18 lbs.))
Leah loves her fans, and she gained two more when Dave and Laura Ege
visited recently. They took some beautiful pictures of her that I'll post
over the next couple of days.
It's finally cool enough to spend time outside, and Leah enjoys the grass.
Mommy's nice too.
It doesn't matter how much my generation dislikes Elmo.
Leah and her friends love him.
What do you do when you live in a one-story house, and
you like to climb stairs? You wait until Mommy is changing
light bulbs, you lure her away from the step stool, and
you scamper right up.
Leah enjoyed the many toy stashes around Gramma and Grampa's house.
Lois, Laura, and Leah headed to the Johnsons to avoid
Hurricane Rita. It was a long car trip, but Leah thought
it was worthwhile. She enjoyed many Cracker Barrels
with Grandma K., she got a bonus visit with Gramma
and Grampa J., and she got to climb their stairs
over and over again. (She'd also like to thank Daddy and
Grandpa K. for bravely seeing patients, watching her
house, and caring for Kitty.)
