Graham and Leah finished their visit to the zoo with shoulder time.
You can see who was leading whom around the zoo. I only have pictures of their backs.
Checking out the big, fake pheasant.
Checking out the zoo with (L-R):
Grandpa, Mommy, Leah, Grandma, Graham, Uncle David, and Aunt Erin
(Daddy took the picture.)
Posing (sort of) with friends at a shower for Isabella's soon-to-arrive
baby brother. (clockise from Leah: Caroline S., Isabella, and Diego)
These are a well-loved party favor from Cole's birthday last weekend.
Leah got a grocery cart for her birthday, so her shopping
reenactments have become even more complex. Leah
took Cecilia with her, placed her in the cart, gave her a few
balloons (with a little help), they filled up the cart with groceries,
checked out at the cash register, paid with a credit card, and
sacked the groceries. The girl pays attention!
Grandpa, Leah, and her Gymboree friends gather around
their fall "pumpkin patch".
Chugging around the living room in her fancy, new train tent.
Yesterday we had a great time at Cole's 1st birthday. After we got home,
Leah was playing at her kitchen when she said, "I make chocolate cake in
the microwave." Then she requested the leftover birthday hats, and we had
a party for Elmo. You can see that Henry and Cecilia were invited. We sang
the Happy Birthday song several times. Here she's cheering between songs.
Leah sought out the birthday boy for a big hug at Alex's recent birthday party.
We met Kevin and Caroline at the zoo. Leah and Caroline were determined to hold hands.
It got a little easier when Caroline escaped from her stroller.
Enjoying a giraffe with Daddy.
In unrelated news, we were at the doctor's office yesterday
with our FOURTH strep throat. Leah was watching Finding Nemo
in the waiting room. We got to a scary part, and Leah exclaimed,
"Oh Dear!" The whole room cracked up. I have no idea where
she picked up the phrase, but the big laugh from her "audience"
ensured that it'll be sticking around for a long time.
Protecting her delicate hands.
Hanging on to the broom while mopping the floor.
Leah takes cooking very seriously. First, she tugged on
Mommy's apron strings hard enough to get the sturdy hook
magnet to slide all the way down the side of the refrigerator.
Then she pulled off just her apron, put it on, and only asked
for help to get it tied. She then placed her pretend blueberry
muffin in her pretend muffin pan (see top shelf) and slid it into
the oven to bake. Here she's starting on the dishes. She wore
her birthday crown (from school) through most of this baking
extravaganza, but she took it off right before I snapped this shot.
Your hard hat can be helpful while working the register.
Leah and her entire class were sitting happily having their
picture taken, and then Leah's Mommy tried to capture the
cute moment . . .
Leah and Caroline enjoying each other's company (while their Mommies
make them wear their costumes for a photo opp).
A little later in the morning after some serious play, the
scarecrow and the bee were looking a little sleepy.
Getting ready to go out with Grandpa.
Getting a planted, dairy-free treat at our babysitter's house across the street.
Heading to the next house with Daddy.
After we came back Leah ate a handful of "Candy Corn!"
Then she stripped off her costume and headed for her room
saying, "All done bee."
Leah looking a bit unsure of one of our gubernatorial candidates,
Kinky Friedman. We ran into him today while lunching with Grandpa.
