Leah is excited about our new pool. Luckily, it's heated. Leah spent a
good portion of our first pool adventure in Grandma's arms in front of
the hot water jet. Smart kid. (I spent our first pool adventure sitting
on the edge.) We've since learned that we need to heat it a bit more
for the wimpier among us.
Leah and Grandpa share her last ride in Houston.
Leah and Peter share her first ride at the Milwaukee zoo.
Leah enjoying a farewell playdate with Alex. Ring Around
the Rosie provided lots of hand holding opportunities.
Leah is definitely in some pain, but mostly she's fallen in love
with her bones. She and Peter have spent hours pouring over
the Atlas of Human Anatomy (drawings) and the Imaging Atlas
of Human Anatomy (x-rays). When Peter tries to focus on the
clavicle Leah insists that she wants to see ALL 500 of the pages.
She's not always chipper, but today she was excited to go back to
school where she showed them her x-ray and announced, "I broke
my clavicle!"
The second night in the big girl bed did not go as smoothly as the first.
Her first fall from the bed (2 feet to the soft carpet below) ended up
with a midnight emergency room visit and a broken clavicle.
Yesterday was a big day for Leah. Her big girl bed arrived. So far, so good.
She napped in it yesterday, she slept in it last night, and now she's singing
in it for today's nap. (Her usual nap time activity.) Sadly, the arrival of the
big girl bed led to some changes that Peter and I weren't expecting. She
ditched Olivia (her stuffed pig) and her blankie. When I explained that she
could still sleep with her blankie. She said, "But I have covers." Fair enough.
Then when we tucked her in last night she explained that she didn't want
the "goodnight song" anymore. Sniff, sniff.
We had to bake all of our dairy-free mixes before the big move.
Leah was more than happy to bake Leah-friendly cupcakes.
It started with, "Mommy, I'm playing a pretzel violin!"
It continued with, "I tuck my violin under my chin."
(That's a breadstick acting as bow.)
. . . and here is the whole family posing with a tiger.
So I know most of you are hoping for some great pictures from
our new home in Wisconsin, but I'm a chronological sort of a girl,
so you'll have to bear with me as we finish out June
Grandma and Grandpa made our college reunion MUCH more
enjoyable by bringing Leah to the P-Rade and keeping her in
Maryland the rest of the weekend. Thanks to the grandparents!
This is Uncle David's way to say that
the technical problems appear to be
fixed. We're looking forward to some
new posts.
