Grandpa recently visited and accompanied Leah on her
inaugural Milwaukee zoo train ride.
We're going to borrow a format from a friend's much-loved blog:
Walt's World
Leah: Mommy, I'm going to have a wedding on Saturday.
Laura: Who is getting married?
Leah: I am.
Laura: To whom?
Leah: Rory's daddy. (Rory is Leah's imaginary friend that has morphed into her imaginary daughter.)
Laura: Great. Congratulations!
Leah: Thanks. Then we're going to move to New York.
We seem to be raising quite the sophisticate.
Caroline included us in her cross-country summer road trip.
Leah was thrilled. (We should also mention that Peter and I
were happy to see her drivers/parents, Kevin and Rowena.)
Here the girls are heading out for a swim.
Leah doesn't like to swing, but she does like to sit in these
comfy red swings at our favorite park.
Luckily, Leah, Brownie and I can appreciate "swing sitting" together.
Leah is swimming like a fish these days. Jumping off
the diving board is her new thing. Sometimes she goes
with Daddy, sometimes she goes without.
Resurfacing.
Leah's excited to be a big sister some time in October.
She loves to kiss and snuggle with "Brownie". (She named it.)
These are obviously taken from the very pregnant mommy perspective.
Leah completed her first session of swim lessons on Thursday,
and she received her first-ever trophy. She was very excited.
Leah: Mommy, we'll have to display it on our piano!
Laura: We don't have a piano, but I'm sure we can find someplace
great to display it.
Leah: No, we'll just have to pretend we have a piano.
Once we're home --
Leah (pretending it's on a piano): It was a dark and stormy night . . .
Laura (realizing that Leah is quoting from Olivia and the Missing Toy)
finally recognizes that Leah thinks her trophy is a candelabra. I mean really,
why would you have a brass container thing with absolutely no function?
Here's hoping she receives many more trophies/candelabras over the years.
