It's as if she drank the dye so she could escape the whole egg dyeing
process. Zoe found it a little too sedentary. She seemed to enjoy
spending the resulting hour in her diaper with Grampa all to herself.
Prepping.
Dyeing.
After drinking the whole cup of vinegar-based orange dye.
Quite a mess.
Those that carried on.
Our eager egg hunter.
Enjoying her eggs as maracas.
Grammie exclaims over Leah's egg booty.
The butterfly and the bee.
Leah and Zoe both woke up sick this morning. Zoe is actually the
sicker of the two, but you can't tell it from this picture. They were
both moping in front of a movie, but Zoe flashed a beautiful smile
as soon as she saw the camera. Sadly, she went back to moping
after I was done.
I should have known something was wrong yesterday when Zoe fell
asleep in the car. She NEVER does this, or more accurately, she
never does this unless she's sick.
Leah: Daddy is the boss of drinks. Mommy is the boss of the family.
Zoe crashed after our second no-sleep car day. But Peter got some nice
snuggle time out of it.
We headed down to Murray for Easter, but we stopped in IL to see
Great Grammie, Peter's grandmother. We had a wonderful visit and
everyone was chipper for breakfast on Saturday morning.
Zoe had a rough time Friday evening when we first got there. She's
the only kid I know that refuses to sleep in her car seat. It shows.
She loves to make cookies, but it's mostly for the icing and sprinkles.
This year Leah's school replaced the annual sock hop
with a decades dance. Leah and I represented the 50s
and 70s while Peter stayed home with a very sick Zoe.
We had a great time. Here Leah is caught mid-Macarena.
Zoe loves the playset. So much so that she stands by
the backwindow and sobs for more than an hour at a
time. She's not picky about the conditions outside.
She just wants to PLAY!
Sometimes Zoe likes to relax with the cans after she steels
them from the pantry and organizes them elsewhere.
Zoe enjoyed watching the playset installation.
Then she lost her patience and tried to breakout.
Leah and Peter play a rousing game of Pretty Pretty Princess.
Zoe gets in on the action by running of with the game pieces.
Zoe attempts to distract Peter from reading Leah's bedtime story.
She succeeds.
Peter and the girls pose in front of a giant boot on the way out
of the Houston Livestock Show.
Leah declares the end of her milk allergy with her first-ever
cow's milk ice cream cone: vanilla with rainbow sprinkles,
from Marble Slab, of course.
Leah drives, Zoe scrambles her way up, and Grandpa and I look on.
Zoe thought the tractors were definitely the best part of the livestock show.
Steering the BIG tire.
Are you sure we can't take this for a test drive?
Leah looked across the carnival and declared that she had to ride the
pink elephants, so we did. But the whole time I was thinking about the
carnival episode of the Sopranos.
The deer wanted to munch on Leah.
Leah wanted to pet the potbelly pigs.
Leah and Laura both made it through the germ-filled experience
unscathed (at least seemingly unscathed).
