Zoe was very grouchy as we got ready for her first day
back at school, so here is an accurate record of the morning.
Here is the only picture with any joy in it, and sadly her eyes
are wandering. (They get worse when she's tired or upset.)
Ms. Jamie said she had a great day, but she started screaming
the moment we pulled away from school. It looks like it's going
to be a tough transition.
David and family joined us mid-week, and here the little ones
are venturing out on the boat.
Helping Daddy row.
Every vacation has them, but we had very few this trip. That makes
it a big success in my book!
Leah caught sunfish after sunfish, so we named her the Sunfish Queen.
Not surprisingly, she liked the nickname.
My family of fisherpeople.
We spent the week at a lake house in northern Wisconsin.
The "little kid" fishing was so good that they each caught
50+ during the week. So here is Zoe catching her 2nd
fish ever! (The first one happened so quickly that we
hadn't even unpacked the camera yet.)
Zoe pets every fish before she (Peter) throws it back.
Smiling with a subsequent fish.
Her first perch.
The girl loves rides, so when we tried to leave several hours after she
should have been napping she couldn't help but sob, "More rides!
More rides!" Then I hooked her onto my back to get her uncooperative
self to the car, and she was out. This from a girl that hardly ever sleeps in
public.
were pretty excited to ride almost all of the rides together with no grown ups.
But Leah looks a little scared on this one even with Kevin next to her.
Kevin, Rowena, and girls came to visit. They were good sports
to head to the WI state fair on a hot day. It was exhausing but the
midway was a big hit with all the little girls.
It seems like a weird thing to do at the Wisconsin state fair, but
the girls were excited about it. Zoe quickly lost her excitement
once the camel started to move.
