Leah was sporting her fabulous Halloween outfit.
And getting sugared-up at her class's costume party.
When I arrived to pick-up (my now dressed) Zoe from
school, she was in her "big girl" classroom eating lunch.
She was supposed to be visiting as part of the transition,
but she never went back to her "little girl" room.
Proudly showing off her new hook.
Saying goodbye to her old hook.
Zoe and I are in a tremendous battle these days. Getting
dressed is one of our on-going struggles. I took this picture
after we arrived at school. (Good thing she got her sunglasses
on.) Sadly, the girl seems unphased by natural consequences.
But one days she will be embarassed to arrive at school in footie
jammies, and I will win eventually . . .
This is my favorite family picture from the night. (I'm so sorry we
missed the opportunity to get one with Grammie during the weekend.)
And this one is a very close second.
Leah blowing out her candles while being cheered on by her biggest fan.
Leah picked donuts for her birthday "cake" which worked perfectly
because I just happened to pick up a few at the pumpkin patch. (There
is only so much cake a family can eat in 4 days . . .)
There were all sorts of perks. She got to be the milk helper . . .
distribute pumpkin muffins to her classmates . . .
and be the crown-wearing center of attention.
Parents were allowed to accompany the kindergarteners on their 2nd field trip
of the year, so I joined Leah and her friends for the hayride.
Here is Leah with one of her new friends. Almost all of the girls
in her class have names that start with A, so it's going to be hard
to refer to them in that semi-anonymous way. We'll have to
figure something else out.
With our pumpkin in a pillowcase.
She wants you to know she's a good witch.
The black kitty cat. (Looks like cheers with a beer to me.)
Just a portion of her 25(!) guests. I'd like to think they all had fun, but
it was absolute mayhem. Never again.
With one of her oldest friends.
The cake as Leah designed it several weeks ahead of the party.
The cake that the bakery made from her design. Not quite right,
but she was happy.
Getting help with her candles. (Zoe rejected the offered birthday hat.)
The effects of black icing.
An enthusiastic big sister.
The requested jack-o-lantern cake.
Zoe seemed to really get the idea of presents this year.
It was wonderful to see.
