The dolls celebrated with tea and treats.
The people celebrated with a half birthday cake.
Brunching with the dolls and their newly "refreshed" hair.

With Mommy.
The girls were very excited to mail postcards from the mail chute
in our hotel. We went up to the top floor, so our mail could fall
as far as possible!
They also liked the lighted window displays. . .
And the constantly changing flower arrangement in the lobby . . .
(I just love this one.)
But I think their favorite thing about the Drake was the elevator benches.
It's one of those things where years from now when they remember our
trip to Chicago they won't remember any museums. They will only remember
that we stayed in a hotel that had benches in the elevators.
(On a separate note, please notice the ratty hair on the American Girls dolls.)
When our order took forever, the restaurant provided Z with a plate
of whipped cream with chocolate syrup. That made her very happy,
but she was full before her actual lunch was delivered.
